Provincial Grand Master

RW.Bro David F Ashbolt

Photograph of tRaymond Smith - PGMBorn at Limehouse Maternity Hospital in 1946, David can lay claim to being a true Cockney! Most people who have heard him speak will vouch for this.

David completed his education in Dagenham and Hackney, following which he moved to West London and started his working career; initially employed as a trainee Perspex Fabricator for Chase Signs and Engineering in Acton in 1963, David progressed through the organisation, becoming Group Managing Director in 1985, a position he held until his retirement after 43 years service. David now helps his wife Vanda with running their Boarding Cattery in Woking, Surrey.

Initiated into Shadwell Clerke Lodge in 1981, David quickly joined Chapter, Mark, RAM and KT. He is now in 15 orders and enjoys them all, but says the Mark is very special to him.

David has 3 children from his previous marriage.   He states:  the most memorable day of his life was when he married Vanda in Barbados 13 years ago. Despite his vast commitment to Freemasonry, and Vanda’s involvement with the Cattery, they are still devoted to each other and make sure that they have their own time to play golf, holiday and relax together.
