Hello,

Mark Golf Day 2017 – A resounding success

The 9th Annual London Mark Golf Charity Day took place at Chobham Golf Course Thursday 7th September. The weather was fine with sunny spells and just a few light showers. 48 players took on the course with 3 teams from Kent and one from Dorset among the combatants.
They were met at the 10th Tee by Alison and Ruth from the Woking Cats Protection manning a table laden with wonderful homemade pastries and savouries. With tummies full it was then uphill to complete the course.
The day was completed by an excellent carvery followed by tarts, cheesecakes, cakes, fruit salad and cream provided by Jerry Gangadeen and Vanda Ashbolt.
Jerry also provided two cakes, one of which was used for the Heads and Tails sweep and one auctioned along with a Four Ball for Chobham Golf Club and a bottle of wine from the Archie Torrance vineyard. This was followed by a raffle.
Proceeds for the day raised a magnificent £1,500.00 which was split equally between the Woking Cats Protection Society and the Kent 2020 Mark Festival.
We were greatly honoured by the presence of the Pro Grand Master M W Bro Raymond Smith who presented the prizes with the assistance of Vanda Ashbolt.
Along with the original London trophy Jagdish Dhadialla had donated the “Pro Grand Master’s Trophy” and the “PGM’S Cup” whilst Ken Humphreyes donated the “Ladies Trophy”.
“Torrances Mixture” comprising Archie Torrance, John Maxfield, Jack Flint and Jamie Flint took the main prize, from “Pinewood Pussycats” with David Ashbolt, Glen Sapsford, Alan Hedley and Trevor Hill.
Jamie Flint had a brilliant round and took the Male Individual Trophy. Runners up “Sutton Green Strays” led by Sue Bennett with Pam Mace, Dorte Gray and Vicky Wheeler took the Ladies team prize and Vicky Wheeler the Individual Ladies.
All prizes were donated by Ray Johnson and David Ashbolt.

The need to win the trophy back from these KENT Masons has resulted in Next Year’s Golf Day being booked for: Thursday 30th August 2018 at Chobham Golf Club.

PUT IT IN YOUR DIARY. We’ve got to get it back!!!
