On the 14th June a small number of Provincial Grand Officers – who were constantly referred to as being small but perfectly formed – accompanied W. Bro. Cliff Sturt on his official visit to Roentgen Portal lodge.
They were treated to a most entertaining Advancement ceremony carried out by the Worshipful Master W. Bro. Brian Calcutt. The Advancee, Bro. Ibrahim Koyuncu, whose mother Craft lodge is a member of the Grand Lodge of Turkey, entered into the spirit of the ceremony as it unfolded not least in the first part when he went through the signs of the three degrees using the Scottish signs, as used in his mother lodge. Fortunately there was a Scottish mason present who could confirm that they were correct as the majority of those present would have been none the wiser if they weren’t!
After the ceremony was completed and the usual elections for the forthcoming year were held, the Brethren retired to have a most convivial gathering around the festive board.
