Mark Masons' Hall, 86 St. James’s Street, London
Hello,

Meherban Juttla

Once again it is my sad duty to write to tell you of the passing to the GLA on 27 April of another of our prominent, senior and highly regarded Members of this Mark Province of London: W. Bro. Meharban Jutlla P.G.Std.B. R.A.M.G.R. P.Prov.G.S.W. Meharban would have been 87 years old next month and had been suffering various health issues for some time. It would be true to say that Meharban dedicated his life to helping others. He lost his wife to ovarian cancer in 2004 and, as a result of this, he focused much of his time and resources on charitable works – giving to others. His whole life was devoted to charitable activities in which he found solace, particularly in helping Cancer Research UK, through volunteering at events and making donations.

In 2017 he was awarded the Honorary Fellowship (Flame of Hope) for outstanding commitment to Cancer Research and also appeared in their national advertising awareness for “Where there is a will, there is a way” and “Stand up for Cancer”.

In 2010, he was appointed on the committee to organise funds for Richard House, London’s first children’s hospice and itself a recipient of substantial MBF funding.

His attendance on Official Delegations led by the Mark Executive to London Mark Lodges was prolific, and in nearly every photograph Meharban’s distinctive white turban was prominent evidence of his support for our Order. He was a Founder of no fewer than 8 London Units and one Royal and Select Council. Within that Order he held the rank of PDistGSwdB.

Meharban’s passing is another sad blow for our Province and our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this sad time.

Tom Quinn

Provincial Grand Master
